I bring 25 years of community and family history books experience, having done over 150 community books in southern Saskatchewan and Alberta. In addition to this I have worked with book publishers in Alberta for 20 years. I was very pleased and honored when they recognized me with the Contribution to Alberta Publishing Award for my time working with them.

Please contact me if you have questions on how to get started on your history book. I would be happy to come to your community to answer any questions you might have on researching, editing, funding (grants), selling your books, and of course introducing you to the Friesens history book program. Friesens provides ongoing service to history book groups that answers all the questions that come up as the book progresses. These service calls are included at no additional cost.

I look forward to working with you to make your history book the best it can be.

Thank you.

My name is Ted Miller, the Friesens History Book agent for Saskatchewan and Manitoba. For some time now, Friesens have employed the services of an exclusive full time agent for history books in Saskatchewan. This successful program (unique to Friesens) has provided an experienced history book consultant to assist committees and individuals in Saskatchewan publishing their history books. I look forward to continuing to provide that service in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

For over 28 years, I have worked with communities and individuals publishing their histories. During that time it has been my pleasure to assist them by providing:

  • Information on pricing for various sizes and options available
  • Assistance with book sales and other fundraising promotions
  • Suggestions for researching and writing histories
  • Help in collecting and choosing pictures
  • Support for publishers using a computer to prepare copy
  • Experience both using and teaching desktop publishing, using Adobe PageMaker and Photoshop

Are you or is someone in your community thinking of publishing a community, ogranization, or family history book? I can help.

I am excited to represent Friesens covering the state of Michigan from my office in Elk Rapids, near Traverse City.

As a former book producer, newspaper editor and yearbook representative,  I bring experience. Working as a professional photographer for college publications, I continued my career in journalism as a writer-photographer. I then formed a book production company to assist authors and organizations successfully publish, helping to produce many local and regional history titles. Most recently, I accepted the opportunity to become editor of a new weekly newspaper, the Elk Rapids News.

Having been around printing and electronic publishing for many years, working for Friesens as a history book consultant is the ideal opportunity. Not only for me, but for all organizations that will benefit from a highly regarded, technically advanced and service oriented book manufacturer.  Friesens focus on support is outstanding.  I look forward to sharing the “Friesens Advantage” with you.

I enjoy photography, reading, rock collecting and outdoor adventures in northern Michigan with my wife Ardie.  My daughter Rose recently graduated from UCLA and is pursuing a career in the fashion/health business.

I look forward to helping you preverse your legacy in print with a history book from Friesens.
